Accommodation Units & Headquarters Building
The Kahramanmaraş earthquake which took place on 6th of February in 2023, underscored a critical need for effective housing solutions in the aftermath of seismic events. The devastating impact left hundreds of thousands of families without homes, prompting swift responses to address the shelter crisis. Accordingly, immediate relief efforts began with the provision of tents, evolving into the deployment of earthquake container houses. Simultaneously, preparations for permanent housing solutions were initiated.
In the pursuit of resilient and efficient post-earthquake housing, modular structures emerged as a leading solution. Prefabricated units offer distinct advantages, being produced in modern facilities independent of on-site requirements. The key benefit lies in their rapid deployment, as these units can be swiftly assembled on-site once the necessary infrastructure is in place, providing a quick and effective response to the housing crisis.
Our company, commissioned by the General Directorate of Forestry, took on the task of designing modular timber structures specifically tailored for residential use. The scope of our work encompassed comprehensive accommodation designs, incorporating plan and façade solutions, alongside the provision of detailed shop drawings and renderings to the client. Additionally, we undertook the structural design and analysis project for the reinforced concrete-steel hybrid headquarters building. Our mission is to ensure a holistic approach to both immediate and long-term housing needs in the aftermath of the earthquake which resulted in the destruction of most of the building stock in Hatay.
