Maintenance and Vehicle Servicing Workshop Structures

The Khor Mor LPG Plant, situated in the Sulaimaniyah Governorate, stands as a robust commercial venture producing Natural Gas (NG), Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG), and Natural Gas Liquids (NGL). With a focus on longevity, the buildings, infrastructure, and utilities are designed for a minimum lifetime of 40 years, ensuring enduring functionality.

For the roofing, metal panels consisting of top and bottom steel sheets with ribs and PIR insulation, are secured to steel purlins. Wherever a suspended ceiling is used, an additional 80mm rockwool insulation is incorporated to achieve a hot roof structure.

The steel structures are engineered following the strength design procedure, employing suitable load factors and strength reduction factors to withstand client-specified loading combinations and design conditions. Emphasizing simplicity in construction, site connections are predominantly bolted, while welding is reserved for shop connections. The design ensures minimal field welds.

Lateral load-bearing systems are strategically employed, utilizing ordinary moment frames in transverse directions and ordinary concentric braced frames in longitudinal directions, aligning with ASCE7-10 standards. Typical details of platforms, stairways, ladders, and handrails are carefully referenced in the engineering drawings. Handrails are designed to be removable in places required for maintenance purposes and clearly indicated on the arrangement drawings. The workshop structures of Khor Mor LPG Plant is a testament to functional design and enduring infrastructure.
