Conveyor Supporting Structures

As the primary gateway to the State of Qatar and the hub for Qatar Airways, Hamad International Airport stands as a global benchmark for airport excellence. As part of the expansion initiative, a dedicated 34,000 square meters airside Remote Transfer Baggage Facility (RTBF) was strategically built. Employing Building Information Modeling (BIM), our firm played a pivotal role in this project by delivering precision engineering for conveyor supports and stands.

The advanced system boasts a processing capacity exceeding 10,000 bags per hour, catering to the escalating demands of the aviation industry. Utilizing a special baggage storage system, featuring 10,080 positions and 48 mini-loaders, the facility ensures efficient storage and retrieval of baggage. To uphold stringent security standards, the facility is equipped with 10 in-tote hold baggage screening lines. It also guarantees complete tracking of baggage throughout every stage of the handling process.

A vertical transport unit seamlessly accommodates changes in floor level, highlighting the system’s adaptability. Crafted from stainless steel profiles, the support structure features cross-braces made from round stainless-steel pipes, ensuring transversal stability. The efficient and reliable operation of the automated baggage handling system is enhanced by clash detection, facilitated through specialized BIM software. The design’s flexibility allows for various configurations, with the support structure either mechanically fixed to the ground or suspended from beams, offering versatility of the structural design based on contextual requirements.
