Antalya Cumhuriyet Square and Tophane Garden

The revitalization of Cumhuriyet Square and Tophane Garden, significant historical landmarks, was carefully executed to preserve the cultural heritage and their authentic charm while introducing modern enhancements. The expansion of Cumhuriyet Square included structural and botanical landscaping, Tophane Tea Garden renovation, and the creation of an 800-square-meter shopping area. Tophane Garden, providing breathtaking views of Kaleiçi and the sea, features a steel roofing system and thermal wood flooring, creating a serene atmosphere. Our involvement in the project encompassed the preparation of static projects for landscape structures, alongside restoration works and elevator structure.

This multifaceted square divided into three sections—the upper square for events, the lower square with shops, restrooms, and landscaping, and the Tophane Tea Garden—serves diverse purposes, hosting events such as official ceremonies, rallies, exhibitions, concerts and catering to social needs. Observation decks link locals and visitors with Kaleiçi and the Mediterranean Sea, promoting a sense of community. The upper square’s diabase and andesite stone floor renewals, along with glass railings, ensure unobstructed visual connection. Introducing a permeable relationship from the road to the lower square enhanced human circulation. Preserving Tophane Tea Garden’s original texture, a raised floor with a wooden composite coating was introduced, complemented by Turkish tile roofing. Block diabase stone stairs and ramps, along with a disabled elevator, facilitate easy access. The project upholds sustainability by protecting existing trees and enriching green areas, marking a significant contribution to the city center’s vibrancy.
