Structural Steel Framing
Situated in the heart of the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, the Öksüt Gold Mine Project is a remarkable endeavor, positioned 290km southeast of Ankara and 45km south of Kayseri/Develi. Our pivotal role in the project focused on the intricate domain of structural engineering for the mining sector. This project, within our portfolio, involved comprehensive projects for the construction of infrastructure, superstructure, prefabricated modular steel hangars, accommodation facilities, and office buildings.
Designed as a conventional truck and shovel open pit heap leach mining operation, Öksüt showcased a stacking rate of 11,000 tonnes per day, with the Keltepe and Güneytepe pits forming the core mining sites. The project aimed to process approximately 1.2 million contained ounces of gold within its initial eight-year mine life.
The structural engineering endeavors were marked by meticulous planning and execution, ensuring the robustness and longevity of the mining infrastructure. Critical milestones were achieved swiftly, with the acquisition of final permits in January 2018, including the crucial Pastureland Permit, unlocking the project’s full development potential. Construction activities commenced in March 2018, propelling the project towards its ambitious goals. This accelerated timeline underscores the efficiency and dedication invested in the project, leading to commercial production within an impressive twenty-two months by May 31, 2020. Since we played a crucial role in the success and efficiency of this mining venture, Öksüt Gold Mine not only signifies a triumph for Centerra Gold Company but also stands as a shining example of our prowess in structural engineering, seamlessly integrating infrastructure, superstructure, and prefabricated steel elements into a fully operational and productive mining facility.
